Reasons Your Essay Fails

There are several reasons why students fail their essays. In some cases, you may fail them because you get too distracted to finish them or delay the essay writing assignment for longer days until the night before it is submitted.

Try avoiding these following fatal factors that doom your essay into an utter failure:

Interference. Interference happens when previous coursework tasks do not allow you to deal with your essay writing task in your planned schedule. If you do not have a flexible working schedule that allows you to insert new tasks while finishing your other coursework duties, your list of assignments may get mixed up. You may lose focus as a result, which could jeopardise your entire academic pursuit.

Retrieval failure. Retrieval failure happens when you cannot recall anymore a previously memorised information that could have been very useful for your essay, no matter how hard you try to concentrate. This can be very frustrating, especially if you consider how that potentially effective information could have made a difference if you were only able to use it as one of the strongest points in your essay.

Motivated forgetting. Most of the times, you may want to forget your essay writing task—either consciously or unconsciously—and actually do so. This phenomenon is called motivated forgetting. This may be due to the fact that you do not want to finish your essay writing task even if you know how important it is. If you are not motivated enough to finish your essay, you will only end up feeling frustrated and stop any attempts at improving the quality of your essay writing assignments.

Cramming. When you have delayed your essay writing task down to the last night before its expected deadline, cramming might be the only way you can hope to pass your essay. The time spent on cramming, however, is most probably wasted. Retrieval of all information that you might need for your essay is more difficult and the fact that you have to submit your essay on the very next day can cause extreme pressure that you tend to use just whatever information and sources you have in your hands.
